Helping Shape the Future of Barrow

Anti-social behaviour support

Clients Challenges

Requirements of Security

To provide short-term support via an on-site guard service during college opening hours due to an increase in anti-social behaviour from young people transitioning from school life to college.
Our Security Solution

The need for a visual presence with Mobile Patrols

Through site observations and interaction with college staff we identified key times and locations through the day and week when incidents were most likely to occur. Patrols were structured to ensure the officer was located in the optimum position at al times. This process was reviewed and altered regularly to ensure ongoing effectiveness. We also looked at how best to manage students who were in the wrong place, prevent large groups of students gathering and ensuring that people on site had a right to be there.
Conclusion and Results
Our presence minimised incidents of anti-social behaviour prevented loitering on site and drastically reduced property damage. There was a significant improvement to the environment resulting in a more positive experience for all student, visitors and staff meaning that we were able to reduce and eventually stop the on-site presence with the exception of specific events.
